bulbous organic gourd — a swollen belly tapering to a narrow planted base, self-supporting curve

Tuber

A swollen gourd with room for thick roots.

$58

Tuber bulges like a root pulled fresh from the ground — a heavy belly that narrows to a low, planted-firm base. The wide interior gives the ZZ plant's rhizomes the volume they hoard water in, while a recessed bottom drain feeds a deep gourd-shaped saucer that tucks under the swell out of sight. Printed walls carry the layer line as a slow horizontal grain, so the surface reads grown rather than molded, matte and cool under the hand.

Dimensions
H 165mm × Ø 175mm at the belly · recessed bottom drainage hole · deep gourd-form saucer included
Plant pairing
Built for the ZZ plant — its water-storing rhizomes want the deep, round belly, and the heavy base steadies the upright canes. Suits other thick-rooted growers like sansevieria too.

The story

We scanned a misshapen seed potato and let its lumps stay. Tuber's bulbous form is structural — the wide belly drops the center of gravity so a tall, top-heavy ZZ won't tip, and the curve self-supports on the bed without a scaffold inside. It looks dug up, not designed, which is the point.
